Cultural visits to our local community can be arranged on request and for many of our guests is often the highlight of their trip.

Mugurameno Village is situated forty minutes by boat, upstream from Kasaka. Our UK based charity, Mugurameno Basic School Charitable Trust, Charity No. 1101231, was set up in December 2003 and supports the community's two schools.

From your short walk from the river you walk past the village and learn how the community lives and works the land.

You will firstly come across the Mugurameno Community School that accommodates children under the age of five. You will be warmly welcomed by their teacher Ernest and most probably sung to by the class! Seeing Ernest's passion for teaching and the standard of education being taught, with a limited amount of resources, is an experience that will stay with you for a long time to come.

Mugurameno Basic School has over five hundred children ranging from six to fifteen and the school day is split into two sessions to accommodate all the children. The headmaster Mr Alan Bwalya and his staff will, time permitting, show you around the school and answer any questions you may have.

Many of our guests ask us what we suggest they donate to the School’s at Mugurameno Village. Click here for some recommendations
